About Humainify

Advisors who have run
organisations like yours,
not just advised them.

Founded by Trent McHugh and Cathy Gray, Humainify helps leaders bring their people through change, including AI, with trust, capability and wellbeing intact. Our deepest experience is in health and community services, where Trent spent two decades as an executive and CEO. We work through The Humainify Method, a proprietary method built on recognised public instruments: People at Work, the Australian Government's Guidance for AI Adoption and structured leadership interviews.

Why we exist

Built from two decades of practice inside real organisations

Most AI consultants arrive from a technology background. Most business advisors arrive from finance or strategy. Most HR consultants have never had to execute the strategy they helped design. Humainify was built by people who came from none of those positions. Trent spent two decades inside complex community and health organisations at every level, from frontline to executive. Cathy spent two decades leading a communications and marketing agency, advising CEOs and boards through change, before a personal wellbeing journey reshaped her practice.

That experience showed something consistent: organisations with genuine ambition and committed people were still falling short. Not because they lacked good intentions, but because leadership clarity, workforce trust and change capability were not being held together as one problem. No single advisor was helping them see the whole picture. We bring strategic clarity and lived executive experience to the specific challenge of holding leadership, trust and wellbeing together through change, because that is how real organisations succeed or fail under sustained pressure.

The arrival of AI made that gap more urgent. AI is reshaping roles, risk and confidence across every kind of workplace, and boards are being asked to lead people through that shift without much practical guidance on the human side of it. Humainify was built to close that gap. We are not technologists, and we never will be. We advise on the people, not the platform.

The team

Meet the founders

Two practitioners. Over forty years of combined experience in executive leadership, communications and embodied wellbeing practice. One shared belief: that leading people through change and adopting AI responsibly are not separate problems. They require the same human response, addressed together.

Trent's career spans twenty years across community health, disability and mental health services, from frontline practice through to executive leadership and board governance. He has held senior operational and executive positions, giving him the commercial instincts and direct understanding of running real organisations that most advisors do not carry.

He cofounded Humainify because he kept seeing the same pattern: leaders trying to push change and AI adoption through their organisations without the leadership clarity, trust or workforce capability to make it land, and without the information or support to address either well.

Cathy Gray, Co-Founder of Humainify
Cathy Gray
Co-Founder
Adelaide, South Australia

Cathy spent more than two decades building and leading Gray Management Group, one of South Australia's most respected PR, communications and marketing agencies. Working alongside CEOs, boards and executive teams, she guided national and local organisations through changing markets and cultural shifts. A personal journey through yoga, meditation and breathwork, prompted by the COVID era, reshaped how she understood what organisations owe the people they lead.

She co-founded Humainify with Trent McHugh because she had seen firsthand the human cost of workplaces that pursue productivity while ignoring the conditions that make it sustainable. Her focus is on the embodied, human-centred approach to leadership that she believes the current era demands.

Our approach

Our experience

Decades inside real organisations

Humainify's depth comes from experience at every level, from frontline practice through to the executive table and the boardroom. That breadth is deliberate.

Community health and disability services

Deep experience across community health, disability support, aged care, mental health and NFP organisations. From small community providers to large services operating across multiple sites. We have worked inside these organisations at every level, which is why our advice is grounded in operational reality rather than theory.

Commercial operations and executive leadership

Direct experience running revenue generating services with P&L accountability, including training delivery, event medical services and retail operations within a complex organisation. That background produces commercial and operational instincts that most advisors do not carry.

Leading people through change

Experience guiding organisations through significant change: AI adoption, digital transformation, structural growth and the people centred leadership required to make change land well. Including the workforce capability, trust and cultural readiness that determine whether change sticks.

Frontline to board level

Our perspective spans every level: direct service delivery, operational management, executive leadership and board governance. From frontline worker to CEO and senior executive, that range is where Humainify's practical grounding comes from and why our advice is rarely theoretical.

What makes us different

Four things that are genuinely different

These are specific. Not marketing copy.

We have run organisations like yours

We are not advising from the outside. Trent and Cathy have carried executive accountability for real workforces, budgets and boards. That changes the quality of advice you get.

Leadership, trust and wellbeing, addressed together

Most advisors treat these as separate problems. We treat them as one, because that is how they actually show up inside an organisation under pressure.

Board ready from day one

Everything we produce, from the first conversation to the Diagnostic report, is written for a board audience. There are no consulting frameworks that need translation before they can be used.

A proprietary method, built on verifiable public instruments

The Humainify Method is ours. The evidence underneath it, People at Work, the Australian Government's Guidance for AI Adoption and structured leadership interviews, is public and something your board can check independently.
